Here we have the Persona 4 Arena Ultimax roster of playable characters, content overview, and more! SEGA and Atlus continue their joint efforts in getting some (but not all, golly) Persona titles available on PC! The next project on their docket is one for fans of fighting games, it's the franchise's well-regarded fighting game offshoot - Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (PC).
As a reference, so far we've got Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Strikers. Both are amazing games and a good sign of what's to come as far as anyone can tell. Arena Ultimax, then, is a continuation of the established process. We might not be getting mainline Persona games, but we sure are getting some top-notch titles in the persona universe!
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is set and primed for its PC launch on March 17th. You can secure an early copy of the game via 2Game!
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Roster and PC Overview
As you may expect, Persona 4 Arena's "Ultimax" subtitle isn't there by mistake. Effectively a massive upgrade to the original Persona 4 Arena experience, Ultimax used to be a standalone continuation (of sorts) to the Arena's story. Following its success, Atlus pushed out a narrative update DLC for the game's story mode that added the original Arena storyline to the mix, too. Not to forget about a number of cosmetic DLCs that came out during the game's first heyday, back in 2013.
If that sounds just the tiniest bit over-complicated, fret not - Persona 4 Arena Ultimax PC is going to offereverything extra in one fell swoop. The DLCs, the P4 Arena campaign, new fighters including returning characters as well as the Shadow versions - it's all there, and you don't need to spend a dime over the baseline version of the game.
Content Summary
Persona games arealways absolutely loaded with content. As you'd expect, Arena Ultimax is no slouch in this area, either. The thing to remember, though, is that the game leans heavily towards its fighting niche. Gone are the classic exploration sequences, for one, and the tense dungeon-diving is nowhere to be found.
Instead, the story of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is told through fighting scenes and the intermittent visual novel cutscenes. Of course, theseare of high quality, and they deliver a classic Persona tale in a way that most competing fighting games couldn't hope to match.
When it comes toplayable content, the situation is similarly thrilling. Decide upon your fighting style and choose your playable character from the full 21-character roster on PC. This includes the former platform exclusives, the various Shadow sub-types, and assorted extra variants, each with their unique fighting styles:
- Aigis
- Akihiko Sanada
- Chie Satonaka
- Elizabeth
- Junpei Iori
- Kanji Tatsumi
- Ken Amada + Koromaru
- Labrys
- Shadow Labrys
- Margaret
- Marie
- Mitsuru Kirijo
- Naoto Shirogane
- Rise Kujikawa
- Sho Minazuki
- Tohru Adachi
- Yosuke Hanamura
- Yu Narukami
- Yukari Takeba
- Yukiko Amagi
- Teddie
Naturally, the Tohru Adachi narrative DLC (DLC character) is getting its time in the sun, as well, and players will get to enjoy the Golden Arena too, if they're in the mood for some high-intensity "dungeon" delving. This is a Persona game, after all.
Features & Expectations
There's no reason for us to believe that the PC version of Arena Ultimax will be anything but the final ultimate version of the game, really. With a massive character roster, all of the storyline expansion packs, and cosmetic goodies in tow, players are in forquite the experience indeed.
To summarize, there's the P4 Arena narrative, the two P4 Arena Ultimax narratives (one for Persona 3 and Persona 4 characters each), the Tohru Adachi storyline, the Golden Arena dungeon mode, the casual and competitive multiplayer matches, and the Social Link meta-progression mode. There are also the various Arcade sub-modes for extended play, if you want to check them out.
Overall, that's ahefty chunk of content right there.
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax 2 (2.0)
At the risk of confusing people that aren't in the know, it's worth pointing out that the version of Arena Ultimax we're getting on PC is, in fact, based on Persona 4 Arena Ultimax 2. Despite the title, this isnot a sequel to the first Arena Ultimax. Instead, it's more of a 2.0 update for the game, and the version that the PC build is being based on.
For casual players, this won't matterthat much, but it's going to be a big deal for competitive multiplayer fans. You see, the 2.0 build modifies Shadow movesets and balancing, tuning them for the sort of high-risk, high-reward gameplay they had originally been envisioned for.
PC Information
When it comes to PC-specific information, there's notthat much to talk about. What information we have about the game suggests that it's the full package, as previously explained, but since it's a 2013 release, the system requirements are appropriately tame.
Netcodemight be a problematic consideration, depending on how it gets implemented. That said, we'll need to wait and see how SEGA and Atlus have handled this portion of the game in practice. Their previous track record certainly makes us have high expectations!
Aside from that, we're also to expect implementation of Steam Achievements and Trading Cards - which is neat - as well as the option to choose between the original Japanese and the localized English voice-over.
If you're still worried about systems specs regardless, though, here's what we know.
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Minimum Hardware Spec
- 64-bit OS and CPU
- Windows 7
- Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 / AMD Phenom II X2 550
- Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 / AMD Radeon HD 6670
- 3 GB of RAM
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Recommended Hardware Spec
- 64-bit OS and CPU
- Windows 10
- Intel Core i3-2100 / AMD Phenom II X4 965
- Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 / AMD Radeon HD 5850
- 4 GB of RAM
As a reference, the recommended GTS 450 is about600% slower than the already aging GTX 1060.Overall, this is looking up to be a very solid showing across the board. We can't wait to see it in action.
